Money A&E – Cost of Living Appeal

We at Home of Mortgages like to support causes that we really believe in, which is why we have decided to support Money A&E and their Cost of Living Appeal. Money A&E is a social enterprise who believe that giving a greater understanding of money through advice and education transforms lives. Their mission is to empower individuals by providing accessible, independent and effective money advice and education and their programmes have been proven to increase financial contribution through independent evaluation. They build relationships with Diverse Ethnic Communities and disadvantaged communities in East London, serving socially excluded groups and young people, and by tailoring their services, they meet the needs of the communities and institutions they work with.

The Cost of Living Crisis Appeal:

Food and rent price rises are surpassing wages. Average energy bills have risen by an incredible £700 already this year with another £629 to be added just as the cold weather hits. It is low-income households who will feel this pain the hardest. Money A&E have already seen some of there most vulnerable clients struggling to stay afloat because more and more people are struggling with ‘deficit budgets’, meaning that their income simply does not cover their household expenses. Donations to their Cost of Living appeal will help to provide 1-2-1 debt, benefits and money advice sessions or even an emergency grant for a household in the most severe financial hardship. They also aim to build long term community financial resilience by delivering financial education workshops that transform communities with essential money management skills.

I had the pleasure of visiting Jerry and the team at the Money A&E offices to hear about the work they have been doing in the local communities, and we discussed the importance of financial education, something I am an advocate for.

Inspired by Jerry, Greg and his team we were inspired to donate the funds we raised during our London to Southend Bike ride to Money A&E raising further much needed funds for people that need it most.
