Help to Buy – Mortgage update

We have received a few questions from clients looking to understand how the Government will continue to support the housing market with affordable housing.

At present, the Government has no plans to extend the current Help to Buy (Equity Loan) Scheme beyond 31st March 2021. They will be introducing a new scheme for only first-time buyers from 1st April 2021 for a two year period ending on 31st March 2023.

If you are considering using the Help to Buy scheme, and you are not a first-time buyer, then you have until 31st March 2021 to COMPLETE on your purchase and receive the keys.

We are being told this date will NOT be extended. Given that it can take several months to find and complete on a purchase at present, my advice is to start your search now.
